BUNLUV was born during my maternity leave, a time of slowing down and learning.

I have always loved swimming, but I began to notice how the combination of chlorine, tight elastic hair ties, and postpartum changes were not kind to my hair. Even when I was using products I enjoyed, my efforts often felt undone by the very thing holding it together.

Over time, I found myself doing something I never expected.

I stopped swimming. I gave up something I loved because my hair felt fragile. The activities that once brought me joy began to feel like they came with a cost.

That is when the question surfaced.

What if a hair tie could be designed differently?

One evening, I dusted off my old sewing machine and began experimenting. I wanted something that worked like a hair tie, but felt more considered. Something that brought together structure and softness in a way that suited real life.

That is where the idea of the SmartCore began. A spiral style inner core paired with a soft fabric outer, created as an alternative to the everyday hair tie. Together, they formed a scrunchie that felt wearable and easy to live with, so hair did not have to dictate what you could or could not do.

At first, I made them just for my children, friends, and family. Then one day, a mum from my daughter’s kindergarten encouraged me to turn it into something more, and BUNLUV began.

As our community has grown, so has the brand. Listening to the women and families who wear BUNLUV every day has shaped everything we have created since, including our sleep bonnets. Designed with the same care and intention, they reflect our belief that caring for your hair should not stop when the day ends.

BUNLUV is about small, thoughtful choices that support you through your day and night. We believe life comes first, and what you wear in your hair should move with you, whether you are swimming again, resting, chasing little ones, or simply going about your day.
